I think it must be an extremely rare pit who lives a long life and has never shown aggression to another living creature. Many owners claim it--but they typically are excusing some incidents as not being aggressive. i.e. THAT bite doesn't count, the little dog was taunting Brutus.

  Joanna McGinn don't the problem with PB puppies start around 7 months??? and aren't the majority of PB puppies taken from their littermates way before even the minimum of 8 weeks. Pack behavior is enforced between 8 and 12 weeks...

  Joanna McGinn Puppies in this type IMO show 'game' at 7-8 months... their peek is at 2 probably but it can be dormant until 10 years or more.

  Jeffrey Sloan The common age I've heard of pit bulls reaching the mauling age, when their instincts kick in, is around 2 years - which is the age when they get dumped at shelters. But the usual bell curve applies - in some cases, they show game at a few weeks old, and in other cases, they go 8-10 years just fine, and then BOOM - surprise attack.

  Joanna McGinn having watched PB puppies and then some of the videos, the aggression and attack mode often starts before 1 year... 2 years is about when they are muscularly developed and can really maul given the instinct that I've seen appear at 7-8 mkonths... which is about when pointers start pointing (at least mine did) but Cairns start going after mice at about 5 months..LOL
