Jena Wright was charged with child endangerment and neglect of a dependent person in the death of 4-year-old Jordyn Arndt in 2013.
Jury selection started Wednesday at the Jasper County courthouse in Newton.
Arndt's father talked to KCCI about his daughter and the upcoming trial on Wednesday. Jason Arndt told KCCI's Mark Tauscheck that he's been waiting two years for justice.
Jordyn Arndt was mauled in the dog attack in April of 2013. She suffered a severe bite wound to her head and neck, and died within 24 hours.
Police arrested and charged the woman who was supposed to be watching Jordyn, 26-year-old Jena Wright.
If convicted on both charges, Wright could face up to 35 years in prison.
